1.  Gather the necessary supplies: You will need a bucket, car wash soap or shampoo, a sponge or wash mitt, a hose with a nozzle, and a soft microfiber towel or chamois for drying.

2.  Choose a suitable location: Find a shady area to wash your car, as direct sunlight can cause soap and water to dry too quickly and leave spots on the paint. Avoid washing your car on a gravel or sandy surface that could scratch the paint.

3.  Rinse the car: Begin by rinsing the car thoroughly with water to remove loose dirt and debris. Start from the top and work your way down, including the wheels and wheel wells.

4.  Wash the car: Dip the sponge or wash mitt into the soapy water and start washing the car's surfaces. Begin from the top and work your way down, using gentle, circular motions. Pay attention to areas that are particularly dirty or stained.

5.  Clean the wheels: Use a separate sponge or brush specifically designed for cleaning wheels. Apply the soapy water and scrub the wheels, including the rims, to remove brake dust and grime.

6.  Rinse thoroughly: After washing each section, rinse the car thoroughly with clean water to remove all the soap residue.

7.  Dry the car: Use a soft microfiber towel or chamois to dry the car's surfaces, starting from the top and working your way down. Avoid using regular towels or rags that may scratch the paint.
